Project Veritas has launched a new video (below) that is extremely indicative of attitudes from some police departments over ‘civilian’ self defense — concentrating for the most part on New York and New Jersey State’s examples. Of course, the police have no obligation to protect the individual, as ruled by court, and so mainly fight crime by trying to intercede before an event or, as perhaps tragically too often, turn up afterwards to measure up, summon the coroner, collect evidence, and then try and find perpetrators.
Couch Bunker in the news
For the past 15 years, Margaret Sevadjian has designed and manufactured a variety of contract furnishings from her small specialty firm, Charles Alan Inc., based in Fort Worth.
Pull up a chair, lounge piece or bar stool at Landry’s Restaurant, Cook Children’s Medical Center, American Airlines Center, Amon G. Carter Stadium, Hyatt Regency Dallas or Cowboys Stadium – just to name a few notable clients – and chances are that piece of furniture was made in Sevadjian’s 40,000-square-foot manufacturing facility on Stanley Avenue on the city’s south side.
“We design for a range of different industries but are primarily known for designing and manufacturing furniture for hospitality, health care and high-end hotels,” said Sevadjian, company founder, CEO and president. “We now offer more than 300 designs – everything from chairs and sofas to dining tables, booths and banquettes, and bar stools. We’re also the only licensed company in the United States in health care to use patented technology for seating. We’ve had the opportunity to work on some of the most major projects all over the world.”
Sevadjian is now aiming her sights on a new product line.
Inventor and survivalist John Adrian of Hercules Research Corp. in Spokane, Wash., recently contracted with Charles Alan to custom- make his CouchBunkers. Like his BedBunkers and ConsoleBunkers, the CouchBunkers are commercial grade couches equipped with a carefully designed, tamper-proof hidden safe. The modular safe, made from roll-formed 14-gauge steel with a 10-gauge steel door, is 78 inches long, 29.5 inches wide and 14 inches deep – about the same size as a twin or half of a queen BedBunker – and securely stores firearms as well as gold, silver and other valuables. Built to last a lifetime, the couch and safe can weigh 1,000 pounds, depending on the fabric and style.
Sevadjian said that once word got out that Charles Alan was making the CouchBunkers, interest started to boom among gun owners and collectors as well as with ranchers and owners of lake houses, cabins and residential homes.
“I’ve had a lot of people ask me about this once they heard we were doing this. There’s a lot of interest in them,” she said. “You don’t want people to know you’ve got a safe under your sofa. And you don’t, because of the way it’s designed. You don’t even see the safe. I think in this area this is a good alternative to a regular gun safe or wall safe.”
High-tech gadget guy a perfect ‘prepper’

Local ‘Doomsday Prepper’ Is Ready For Anything
SPOKANE, Wash. – We’ve all heard about the 2012 Doomsday prediction that the would will end on December 21st.
It’s created a rise in Survivalists or Preppers and they specialize in preparing people for things like economic collapse, nuclear attacks or even fuel shortages . One of the more successful preppers lives in the Inland Northwest and will soon be featured on the National Geographic Channel’s television show Doomsday Preppers. John’s home is perched on the edge of a cliff just outside of Spokane. He purchased the home seven years ago and has outfitted it against intruders both inside and out.
His home is a technical fortress.
“I think it’s paramount to make home your castle and make yourself less of a target.” John says. At least 16 camera are mounted around the property and each one is linked to a computer program that is even visable from his cell phone. “I don’t need a camera to sleep at night,” he says looking into one of the cameras, “you know the ones that should be paranoid are the ones that aren’t prepared.” John grew up the product of a military Dad. He recalls road trips and his father reminding everyone to have Duct Tape and a sleeping bag in the car in case the car broke down on the way to Montana. As a father himself, John has taken in all a step further inventing the Bunker Bed. It’s a safe that can be consealed in a couch or a bed. It’s a way John says to hide serious arsenal. “So you want your safes concealed because it is always better so people don’t know what you have.” He says. There is a lot in his home hill will not share. But what is obvious is his dedication to invention, protection, and awareness. “I think it’s our responsibility to be prepared so our neighbors don’t have to take care of us,” John says, “people need to take responsibility for themselves.”

Happiness is a warm gun … (stored in a comfy bed bunker of course!)
When doomsday comes – be it civil unrest, the aftermath of a natural disaster or a full-scale zombie apocalypse – nothing will help you sleep easier than a BedBunker ™.
There’s only so much firepower you can ferret away under a futon. But you can rest easy – by replacing your box spring with one of these bad boys featuring a monster 10 gauge steel safe fitted with ¼” thick steel and 140 lb. hinged doors.
The bed bunkers range in price from a twin sized mattress weighing 670lbs costing $3,150 to a top-of-the-range king sized bed bunker weighing 1500lbs and capable of holding up to 35 rifles and 70 handguns.
The Bed Bunker from Heracles Research is just one of the many creations of John Adrain. “Many people have asked me how long it takes to access your bed bunker – it takes less than ten seconds. “The guns are right beneath you so you can access them in a hurry.”
Adrain has turned his fears into a business and offers his devices to likeminded souls who fear the end is coming. At his own home Adain has turned the estate into a technological fortress. His eccentric lifestyle and fortified home will feature on an upcoming episode of National Geographic’s Doomsday Preppers, which explores the lives of otherwise ordinary Americans who are preparing for the end of the world as we know it. Unique in their beliefs, motivations, and strategies, ‘preppers’ will go to whatever lengths they can to make sure they are prepared for any of life’s uncertainties.
BedBunker on the Colbert Report
(BedBunker segment begins at 2:00 min)
‘Colbert Report’ spurs calls about Bed Bunker
John Adrain is a lukewarm fan of Stephen Colbert, the cable-TV comedian who slices up hypocritical politicians and skewers fat cats on his popular show “The Colbert Report.”
But Adrain is singing Colbert’s praises this month. A segment last week on Colbert’s show featured Adrain and his Bed Bunker, a 1,300-pound steel gun case that sits under a queen bed in place of box springs.
Colbert’s producers featured a clip from Adrain’s business website in which the Spokane inventor pulls out a shotgun from the safe, cocks it with one hand and smiles at the camera.
